And yet another annoying argument I see on social media like FB and Twitter, but have seen for 17 years now, is the layperson's misuse of the word "law" as meaning "lawgiver" or "law maker".
And this isn't an argument I see from only Christians, I have seen it from Muslims and Jews as well over the years.
"Law" in science DOES NOT mean, like a king, or a congress deciding how societies are governed.
"Law" in scientific method is simply a description of an observation of consistent outcomes they observe over countless repetitions of experimentation, testing and falsification and having that end up with a consistent observation.
I really get tired of this god of the gaps argument.
Same with the word "theory". That too is not a mere "guess" pulled out of one's ass. "Theory" as used by scientist is also based on repeated experimentation that result in predictable observations.
