Shultz knows nothing, hears nothing, sees....

Shultz knows nothing, hears nothing, sees....
I have liked Starbucks on social issues for a long time. But just like Bloomberg, it is not enough to be socially supportive of minorities. Economics matter, and if all you do is say "yea I hate Trump" but we need to get back to the center, sorry.

Bloomberg pisses me off, for saying he'd fund his own campaign. Yea, to me that is simply buying the office. And really no different a claim than the orange turd made, even if he lied about self funding, the ploy is still bullshit.

So this morning on Morning-Joe, Shultz was quoting Reagan as the example of dignity of the office. I am sure Reagan would hate Trump today, and could not win a nomination on today's GOP, sure. But sorry Howard, REAGAN was the President who started the age of deregulation, union busting and "don't tax the rich" which has lead to the pay gap and more worker instability today.

But I am sick of this bullshit which he repeated that "both parties" garbage. Um no, if part of your argument is "taxing billionaires won't help", that is bullshit, and all you are doing is defending Reagan's failed policies.

AOC on the other hand, despite what people claim, DOES NOT want us to become Venezuela, but merely suggested we go back to the graduated tax rates pre Reagan. The rates that created our highways, GI bill and had a more manageable gap.

Sorry Howard, but what you said about taxing billionaires is nonsense. To me you are simply just defending the same policies Reagan started that lead to the problems we see today.

"Taxing Billionaires won't help!" says Billionaire who doesn't want to be taxed.

What? You guys don't like Schultz? He's basically Hillary Clinton with a penis. He's one of the New Dems that you people have always loved long time.

We had an incident here a few years ago when one of the regional counselors pushed for a small increase in property taxes, but would exempt - among other things - bookshops.

The fewmets hit the windmill when it was learned his wife owned five bookshops in Northland.

No shit! I agree.

No he is not.

I am tired of people missing the long term picture.

REAGAN started the age of deregulation and "don't tax the rich", long before even Bill Clinton was nationally known, long before even Bill ran.

What Reagan's GOP did was get the upper hand and control the narrative. If anything, the only thing Bill or Hillary could have been accused of back then was being held hostage. It also did not help that dems, as VOTERS gave up after Reagan successfully busted the air traffic control unions. Since then, between our voter apathy, GOP gerrymandering, our politicians have been held hostage.

BUT as voters, as far as our ideas, if we would grow a backbone, and swamp the GOP in numbers every November, every year, midterm or not, DEMS can win.

But our politicians are only as good as the support we give them.

AOC is also a democrat, and SHE is what we needed long ago to fight Reagan. Clintons were hostages forced to play by the GOP narrative.  Politicians like AOC or Warren for that matter, are not going to be held hostage by the GOP. Hillary and Bill for that matter, were simply forced to play the GOP game. Times are changing though.

There actually are some reasons to be cautious about taxing billionaires. One is that they have a distinct tendency to move their wealth beyond the reach of taxation, and thus reduce the revenue base. The second is that they actually do have the ability to retaliate by driving up some prices. I believe that the drive up in pharmaceutical prices was largely driven by billionaires who wanted to retaliate against the threat of healthcare being socialized and price controlled.

If we are going to increase taxes on the ultra wealthy, I am all in. But I think that a lot of people don't understand that it is going to be war. It is going to get ugly. They are going to push back and retaliate. You little rebels had better be ready to stand your ground and be willing to give up some things. We might need to have public iPhone burnings. Don't pick a fight with Apple if you're not willing to throw your iPhone into the fire.

Voting for someone to lead a fight is less than worthless if you aren't willing to follow them into the fight.

Yes, if we do, they black mail us. They have for the past 40 years and?

Billionaire, "If you don't give me 100% of what I want, I will take my toys overseas".

It does happen and has happened, and?  Huge difference between legal, and moral.

"You little rebels"?

Excuse me, but if all we do is let the rich dictate to the rest of us, then we could easily live under the Kim family who rules North Korea, or the Saudi Royal Family who rules Saudi Arabia. Fidel Castro upon his death had a personal wealth of $800 million. Gadaffi was a BILLIONAIRE whom owned stock in General Electric.

What built our middle class post WW2 was a DIRECT reaction to the failed no rules policies "let the rich do whatever the want" that lead to the bad gambling that lead to the Great Depression.  Post WW2 policies created regulations and a climate of unions, and TAX RATES that built our middle class.

It still remains, that if the rich, not just in America, but worldwide, want to continue to make money, they cannot continue as a class to assume they are the only class that matters.

No he's fucking not.  Get the fuck out of here with this nonsense.  Hillary was for raising taxes on the uber rich, and for socialized healthcare.  Both of which Schultz is against.  So yeah, get the fuck out of here with your stupid shit.

As usual, you don't understand what I said to you. In a fight with billionaires, I am all in.  But I'm not picking a fight that I'm afraid of. If we pick a fight with billionaires, there is going to be some pain. They are going to make it hurt. It is going to be ugly. Are you up to it? If you pick a fight with Apple, are you willing to bring your iPhone to the bonfire?

Fine, then fuck Shultz, fuck Bloomberg.

But please do not dare equate them to Hillary, OR Bernie or Warren or AOC for that matter.

The only thing Hillary or Bill can be rightfully accused of is being held hostage.

Yea, greedy people will hurt you and? The Castro Family fucked it's population. The Kim family fucks it's population. The Saudi Royal Family fucks it's population too.

If I were to take a tactic if in charge, I would do what MLK did. Organize boycotts and sit outs and sit ins.

If you look at what literally ENDED the shutdown, it wasn't that the rich cared about the poor. It was because they finally faced that air traffic employees and TSA employees missing work were costing those businesses money.

It would take less than a week for government to wake up, if not only air travel was disrupted, but trash collection too. Name me one billionaire that would put up with a month of trash not being taken from their curbside.

This shutdown only ended because the rich were affected. But it is still within the power of workers to not let it get that far. Unfortunately Reagan got the upper hand and workers gave up.
