That's a problem with the internet.  If everything is an emergency, what happens when a real emergency comes around?

I think one way out of this problem is to distinguish between people's actions and their character.  We can all act well or badly, so discussions really should focus on specific behaviors at specific times.  Avoid over-generalizing about mistakes, poor behavior, etc.  Also, take it as constructive criticism when someone points out a problem.  After all, we are posting at a forum to elicit different perspectives.

In a way.  But what it's really about is a poster who routinely treats people here like the lowest grade of shit and then goes all butthurt when it gets turned round on him.

Mostly I giggle. I don't understand how anyone can feel butthurt in these discussions. I used to have a woman who stalked me from forum to forum, dropping info bombs about my transgendered history. She did it to me hundreds of times before I finally said anything about it. She intended for it to be 'devastating' to me. But it really wasn't the devastating attack that she kept imagining that it would be. Mathilda tried a variation of that attack recently. As a transsexual, I've dealt with my share of stalkers. Internet bombs are pretty light artillery.
