Does forming an atheist community pose a risk to becoming a religion?

RE: Does forming an atheist community pose a risk to becoming a religion?
The question should be "Does forming any sort of community pose a risk to becoming a religion?" ... it has absolutely nothing to do with atheism.

I found a stamp with the biplane upside down. Ruined stamp collecting for me.

Have meetings? For what? To discuss how we all lack a belief in a specific idea? Doesn't really seem necessary or productive.

Would holding formal gatherings to discuss atheist ideas create something "religious" in character (such as weekly church attendance) if these meetings were focused around discussing the disbelief in god(s)?

I personally have been a little reluctant towards formalized meetings to discuss "atheism", however I would be interested to hear what other peoples thoughts are.

There is nothing wrong with the concept of religion.

it's the dogma inherent in the system of religious unquestioning faith that's the problem with religion, IMO. Take that out, and you basically have just social gatherings of people with somewhat aligning socio-political views, if even that. But that begs the question, why even call it a "religion" at that point, it's just "meetings" then.

Around where I live, the closest I have to go to that's not a religious service is cafés, bars and (night-)clubs. So, I go there to meet other people.

I was going to say that surely you must be exaggerating, and suggest you look up something on Meetup, but then I looked up Torshavn and found there really is nothing there. You weren't exaggerating.

Yes, but removing religion from the equation can be beneficial towards discussing other themes without the nagging "its gods will" cop-out.

Or we could just have a beer.

There are local venues, that I go to though, but they aren't that often.

Now that, I can get behind.
