My big sis claims we're a democracy but also a Republic and that if we did away with the ELEC clge that then smaller states wouldn't have a say and California and NY would only represent them, not the midwest etc...Also she said it's mob mentality in California b/c why else do you not see many Republicans, unlike Texas she said that we have both dems and repubs

Making it so California and New York would be chosen over places like Florida and Ohio isn't much of an argument. Most of the population is in big cities. Probably helps that they tend to be more liberal too.
