Random Facebook god post
So my nephew posted the god post floating around on Facebook and I decided to share my thoughts.
This is the post.

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do u mean?
Me: Well, I woke up late
God: Yes
Me: My car took forever to start
God: Okay
Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait
God: Huummm
Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call
God: All right
Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn't work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that
Me : OH
GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.
Me : oh
God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.
Me : Okay
God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.
Me :  I see
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.
Me: I'm Sorry God
God: Don't be sorry, just learn to Trust Me.... in All things , the Good & the bad.

My response

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that

Me: It's ALL your plan right ? So you sent the death angel to my bed to kill me. Everything is your plan, am I right ?

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: But it was YOUR plan to have a drunk driver on the road and that drunk driver hit someone all according to YOUR plan. You planned for the drunk driver to hit someone, just not me. At least not today. Do you plan for a drunk driver to hit me tomorrow ? Cause so far, I'm not liking this plan.

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.

Me: Ok, but this person made other sandwiches for other people. You planned for them to get sick, but not me. All the other times I got sick, YOU planned that. You intentionally caused it as part of YOUR plan.

God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me: But a dead phone means that I can't contact someone if I need help. Obviously I can't trust you because your plans always involve someone getting hurt. You stopped me from calling the police on the drunk driver because stopping him would go against your plan.

God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: Sorry, but that short would have only thrown a breaker. But you planned for it to have a short. According to you, this is all your plan.

God: Don't be sorry, just learn to Trust Me.... in All things , the Good & the bad.

Me: Sorry, but I pray every single day that you will change your plan. Your plan is horrible. I pray for everyone to have a safe trip to work, but your plan involves a drunk driver and someone he will hit and probably kill.

God: And don't doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.

Me : Pretty sure that my plan is ALWAYS better than yours.

God is one huge conspiracy like all the other batshit conspiracies out there.

BECAUSE WE ALL LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR LIVES AND WHY. IT GIVES US A SENSE OF CONTROL.
NOTHING SCARIER THAN KNOWING THAT WE HAVE NO CONTROL AND THAT NO-ONE IS LOOKING OUT FOR US.

So they invent god instead.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

An interesting little exercise with the post you did there. I like it. However, an alternative is much simpler... I simply ask, "Why is this one person so special that god keeps them from being hurt/sick/hit by cars while children all over the world die of unspeakable tragedies? What makes this man or woman so great? God sounds like an asshole to be letting all of these other tragedies happen while he went out of his way to make sure this specific person didn't get sick because they 'can't afford' to miss work."
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

And then when the person does get sick, as we all do at some point, it turns into "this natural virus made me sick, but god will make me all better. It's part of his plan."

It's never "God caused me to get sick. It's a good thing we have modern medicine to help me get better."

In their eyes, god is only the cause of good things, but if he does cause a horrible thing to happen, then it's simply part of his plan and the horrible act is forgotten.

This man killed this other man.
It's ok. It was part of his over all plan to kill several people. Just trust in this man's plan. In the end you'll see all the good that came from each of those murders.

It's just ridiculous

A tornado devastates a town and a bible survives, “god is great and watching out for us! This is a sign!!”

Nine kids die in the same tornado, “god wanted them to be with him!”

You cannot win with these fucking idiots!

These are the mental gymnastics that Christians do on a regular basis in order to rectify the tragedies of mankind with the so-called benevolence of god inside of their heads. It's so obvious when you're on the outside looking in; you see how ridiculous it sounds but it seems that they actually believe what they're saying or at least say it with enough conviction that you're convinced they do.

It's insane, honestly. And these same Christians would see the ridiculousness in their "logic" if they considered the same line of reasoning in defending the actions of "Allah" or "Zeus" or some other god they consider fictional. Unfortunately, many Christians live in echo chambers and never have to face the uncomfortable challenge of having their views disputed by others. Many Christians only interact with other Christians; going to church, going to Christian summer camps when they're young, going to Christian schools or even just living in neighborhoods heavily populated by Christians (some places are known as "good places to raise a Christian," etc.) and so on. These people often insulate themselves from the real world, especially when there are kids involved because they don't want their children exposed to "the temptations of the devil."

Absolute insanity.

Those wacky christers, don't try to figure them out, just point and have a laugh.

I like the idea that he noticed there would be a drunk driver on the road, so instead of keeping that person's car from starting, he kept innocent people's cars from starting. He tries to help in the least helpful way possible.

I'll mention that on the post the next time I comment.

Not very efficient, is he?
