Also, I really don’t give a flying fuck about your opinion of MY actions with MY animal companions with MY money.
See, I wouldn’t have thought it to be a good idea to try to pass a law to impose my sensibilities on you.
So a law to ban animal cruelty is “imposing sensibilities on people?”
What a joke!

Considering across the world cruelty to animals is far more commonly accepted as a matter of course than rejected as immoral, attempts at banning is certainly mere representation of the sensibility of some people.

Many an animal lover could make the argument that we should ban cats. Sure sure we bait our yards and homes and we know exactly what the cats are going to do, then we blame the cats.....but it’s us. Banning some set of cruelty and reveling in some other.
Fuck, might even get the idea that we’re animals too.
Or, are we talking full on gitmo prisoner cats who just might wish for death having never so much as seen outside?
Here’s a fun q, since we’re really waltzing the line between equating cats, property, and people.
Let’s do it! Would you pick life without parole, or lost fingers? If you were stuck in a prison, would you do anything that might risk life or limb to get out?
How about a gilded cage, where you were your owners prize possession? Does that change the equation?

Secondly, neutering is good. It increases a cat's life span and makes the animal generally healthier. It also helps to reduce the population of feral cats.
Lastly, animals don't have a 'sex life' as you imagine it.

Wait what? They do that? I thought by declawing, you meant using a nailcutter or something to cut the tips of the claws. I don't like either. There are scratching poles, they seldom use. Easy to make at home even.
As to a sex life, by human standards they are pretty much S&M.
Regarding the comparision between neutering and declawing, it is plain silly. One is an elective surgery the other is a matter of public health. I will always put my species above others.
A couple of cats can generate like 10 K cats in 10 years. That is a lot of cat shit, more worrysome in urban areas.

Not to be pedantic or anything, but bacteria are not animals.

Bacteria are in their own kingdom, there are 5, last I checked.
Not that it matters, your point is solid without any need to bicker. All of us, individually and collectively, value some life over other life and this effects what we consider to be the appropriate range of behavior when interacting with that life.

I don’t value your life over an animal’s life. When it comes to valuing specific animals over others, it’s only my family and pets over everyone else.
