Last time I saw an octopus I hopped straight out of the water.
It was a blue ring.
I thought it was seaweed and was about to scoop it up until I saw the rings pulsating.

Most things in the ocean seem like alien lifeforms. I'm fairly certain that if Aliens existed, and were on Earth, they decided the deep sea was more to their liking than North America. Also yeah, a lot of people underestimate how much roaming space their pets need/prefer. My neighbor once attached a tracking collar to her dog, and let it run. Some of the pings were like half a mile away. That's how far her dog liked to wander, when it could.
