RE: Dark humour
I only know one in German
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Really dark

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yeah, I remember when we moved to Indiana from Missouri, c. 1955-6. Brought a bunch of preachers along to convert the natives.

You certainly educated my ancestors.  'Never trust a Viking' is one thing we learned.  Another is, 'Hide your books.  Really.  All of them.'

It’s a well known fact that Vikings and their humanitarian causes started after they save religious relics and treasures from a certain monastery after the monks all died mysteriously and the buildings caught fire (probably due to an unattended fire left to burn out of control after the monk die).

Not Bopu.

But, but, but...it was Manifest Destiny!  God made us do it...

Manifest Destiny, a phrase coined in 1845, is the idea that the United States is destined—by God, its advocates believed—to expand its dominion and spread democracy and capitalism across the entire North American continent.
Disappointing theists since 1968!
