Not all of us.
Enough of us to make a difference.

What do you know thousands of Australians have taken to the streets demanding the resignation of the country’s prime minister amid devastating fires and mounting concern about government inaction on the climate crisis
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

You know what's stupid. We all share one atmosphere. Even if Australia had zero emissions, it wouldn't even make a measurable difference to the world's atmosphere because of our very low population. But we are criminals in that one of our major exports is coal to "other" countries like China and India who can't get enough of it. Our govt should be jailed for that alone.
No God, No fear.

But Australia, like Kentucky and WV and India still have a backword's attitude to clinging to the past. The world for that matter, is still far too much stuck on clinging to burning fossil fuels. "Trump digs coal" has been one of his campaign slogans. (January 11, 2020 at 2:18 am)ignoramus Wrote: You know what's stupid. We all share one atmosphere. It might be just appearances, but this first part of your comment reads a lot like "what's the point in living green when others don't/wont" which is one of the worst and most toxic responses to global warming, because it has the potential to breed and embody inaction and apathy toward the problem ACROSS THE BOARD. It always reminds me of the old "what's the point of voting - it's just one vote" train of thought. T.O.X.I.C. Do what you personally can do to help the crisis need be the message, however small the deed and whoever you are and in whatever country - that's the message, and if it struck home across the board we'd be out of this fix quicker than you can say "AGW." Here's a ManBearPig scene featuring a "yeah, but the Chinese will still pollute" line: |
