"Conventional wisdom" has never equaled fact. Otherwise the worst oppression and atrocities committed by humans on other humans would be justified.
It was once "conventional" to own other human beings. It was once "conventional" to murder Jews.
I would hope that those with compassion would fight "conventional wisdom".

It would have been an improvement. Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb. Cottage Pie is made with beef (and before you say it, NOT cottagers).
