An Open Letter to Congress

An Open Letter to Congress
I wrote this letter a month and a half ago and sent it to newspapers in 30 major U.S. cities.  If you like what you are reading then please feel free to copy and paste in other social media as well as making printouts to post on bulletin boards in public spaces, and also please feel free to send to your local newspaper.  And don't forget, make sure you send a copy to the Republican shits who supposedly represent you in your congressional district and state (U.S. Senate).  Add your name, or not, if you like, it is up to you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

An Open Letter to the United States Congress

Dear Republican Scum of the Senate and House of Representatives:

You are defending the Indefensible.  By so doing you have placed the United States of America,  our Republic, and our democratic institutions and elections in grave danger!  You have placed your faith in a man who is not only without honor, but is also a pathological liar and has loyalty to none but himself.  This so-called President, this Donald J. Trump, has done nothing but soiled the Office of the Presidency, called our allies enemies and our enemies friends, made shady deals with shady characters, and has placed all of Americans in danger by doing so.  This so-called President cares nothing for anyone and anything but himself, and it serves his purpose to do the will of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to undercut the United States and weaken us as a world power.  This is treason, and you Republicans have helped him and continue to help him destroy us all.  This makes all of you traitors!

I have watched the Impeachment Hearings.  I have seen your conduct, Republican traitors, towards the witnesses and your attitude toward their testimonies.  It is one thing to ask tough questions, but it is quite another to belittle the character and demean the knowledge of true patriotic Americans who have spent their adult lives in service to our country in either the military and/or public service in governmental agencies in a non-partisan manner with true faith and honor to their missions.  I would say “shame on you” Republicans, but you have shown yourselves to be without shame, or honor.

Not only that, but your continuing insistence that it was the Ukrainians, and not the Russians, who interfered with our elections in spite of the facts exposes your willful ignorance.  Dr. Fiona Hill, a knowledgeable expert in her field, was right to chide you all for supporting a theory that has long since been exposed for its falsehood.  Your continuing support of a debunked load of horseshit only serves to place the security of America in danger!  It is apparent to me that all of you Republicans in Congress do not give a damn about keeping Americans safe.  What is more important to you is that you continue to have your heads up Trump's ass, especially Nunes and Lindsey Graham.  It is amazing to me that there is still room in there for all of you, since Trump's own head is shoved so far up in there.  There can be no doubt now that all of you are truly Trump's assholes.

In essence, Republican scum, is that your actions and continued blind support for a man who is blundering about like a bull in a china shop has endangered us all, and none of you care.  It does not matter to any of you that our elections are meddled with.  It does not matter to any of you that our reputation in the world has been sullied.  And what is even more reprehensible, is that it does not matter to any of you that our Constitution is being torn apart and our rights are being trampled upon.  We the People do not matter to you.  The only thing all of you Republicans have proved by blindly supporting a sorry sack of garbage is that you care more about power and money.  All of you are corrupt!  All of you are contemptible!  It is not the media who is the enemy of the people.  It is you!  All of you will be held accountable by being removed from office, tried for your treason, found guilty, locked up, and suffer State execution!  We the People, will make this so.

I doubt very much than any of the intended recipients are going to get past the greeting.

I can say with absolute certainty that the staff assistant (or intern) in charge of the mail will immediately throw it in the trash.

I’m fairly certain that if I received a letter addressed to ‘Dear Scum’, I wouldn’t feel any burning desire to read further.

With a vain threat at the end. Over here, to have a petition on the parliament you need a certain amount of signatures to it. Casual mail, with merit or not is ignored. Except for the Prez, cause he has insomnia and likes to read. Also take selfies with people.

Sure, but how polite should one be to a clear danger to our free society?

A bully needs to be called a bully.

Suppose I need you to do something for me. I start my request with, ‘Hey, scumbag...’.  What are the odds that you’re going to do what I want you to do? Would going on to threaten your life make you more or less likely to help me?

My late mother was a mostly lifetime voting republican. But even she could not stand the orange turd.

I will admit, if you can sway someone on the fence or slightly off to the other side, a "fuck you" isn't the best option.

But we are not talking about politics as normal. Hitler had very vile and radical views when he was a no name, and it took decades for him to consolidate power. He didn't take absolute power over night.

I'd  love nothing more for America to get back to the politics of debate, but Trump has turned politics into WWE/Jerry Springer, with unfortunately very real implications that threaten our global and national security.

The fucker has vilified his own who are not blindly loyal to him. He has attacked war heros, even of his own party. He has sucked up to dictators and ignored or denied his own intel. He constantly vilifies anyone who questions him.

I don't know how politeness can work at this point.

This isn’t about how bad Trump is (and he’s really, REALLY bad). It’s about the language in Elf’s letter. I agree with the sentiments expressed, but the letter is going to do nothing, absolutely nothing (except possibly make Elf feel better for having written it).
