I don't have any problem with them preferring Sanders over Biden but this Bernie or bust attitude is just fucking stupid. It's childish. OBVIOUSLY, Joe Biden's ethos is going to more closely match a Sanders supporter's ethos than Trump's - by a wide margin. This is like a child throwing a tantrum because he/she is offered a cookie but not the one they wanted.

We're not refusing a cookie we don't want. We're handed two pieces of shit. One of which smells slightly better, but is still shit, and expected to eat it anyway. Because we continue eating the less smelly shit, instead of demanding actual food.

C'mon, man! If you are a Sanders supporter, Joe Biden is NOT shit to you. I can say the same thing about Sanders as a Biden supporter. I would be disappointed and rather troubled if he were the democratic nominee but I am mature and pragmatic enough to recognize that he would far more closely align with my ideals than Trump. I will not throw a tantrum if Sanders is the nominee. I will hold my nose and vote for him. I would hope for the same from Sanders supporters but it seems you people have a maturity problem.

What's a major issue that Biden has stood for, for a decade or two, that would make you want to vote for him, if the other guy wasn't practically the worst president to ever sit in the oval office? What do we have to vote FOR, in Biden, and not AGAINST, in Trump?

Well, there is the thing that this guy spent years as a US Senator from Delaware and took the daily train between Dover and DC. I don't know if you have ever taken public transportation in the U.S. but this is about as humble as it gets. Joe Biden is about as close to an average citizen as you are ever going to see in a U.S. Senator.

More to the point, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!

The primary is your time to vote your preference within the party. I fully respect your preference for Sanders over Biden. But if you throw a tantrum in the event that the majority in the party pick Biden, you denigrate the whole party.

You don't have to like it if Biden is the nominee - just as I don't have to like it if Sanders is the nominee. But either of us staying home because our preferred candidate didn't win is like a pouting child.

If I can't have it my way, nobody will!!! Mad

How about we both act like adults. I'll vote for Sanders if he wins and you vote for Biden if he wins.

Face it, the adults in the room are not going to be swayed but temper tantrums.

What the hell .Joe Biden is not average by any standard

Quote:More to the point, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!
It matters if you actually want to change anything

Quote:The primary is your time to vote your preference within the party.
Yup too bad the Demorate establishment doesn't give a damn about our choices

Quote:I fully respect your preference for Sanders over Biden.

Yeah preferences like actually being able to beat Trump and not being status quo yes man and being able

Quote:But if you throw a tantrum in the event that the majority in the party pick Biden,
Right it's a tmper tantrum to actually want to win and actually change stuff rather then repeating 2016 .Please tell me more  Dodgy

Quote: you denigrate the whole party.
The party has already done that

Quote:You don't have to like it if Biden is the nominee

Yes i don't like a nominee who will lose against Trump

Quote: - just as I don't have to like it if Sanders is the nominee.
Then i guess you hate winning and progress because Joe will grant you neither

Quote:But either of us staying home because our preferred candidate didn't win is like a pouting child.
No it's freaking not

Quote:If I can't have it my way, nobody will!!! [Image: mad.gif]
No it's if i can't have an actual good candidate who will enact the policies we need as opposed to a guy who will continue policies i oppose .Then my vote not really .Bating Trumps important but so is actually voting for something when he's gone.

Quote:How about we both act like adults. I'll vote for Sanders if he wins and you vote for Biden if he wins.
If Sanders wins we all win is Biden wins many many many lose

Quote:Face it, the adults in the room are not going to be swayed but temper tantrums.
Or apparently Bidens consistent demonstrations he can't handle the job

Well, as much as I criticised Biden, here are a few redeeming qualities: Campaigning for the Violence Against Women Act, supporting free college, supporting gun control to plans that, if implemented, would mean more change than the US has had in decades, and championing DACA.

To be fair, damn near all the other Democratic nominees have done most of those things and more (Biden's virtues are mostly those of most every other nominee, but his failings are all him), but that only drives my point further home. Since 2001, the Republicans have been doing shit so horrible that having a Republican candidate be the lesser evil is practically the stuff of alternate universes. Obama's presidency was a wash. Didn't stop me from voting for him three times. Don't regret it.

Ian Hislop once said that in America, "you have the Democrats, who are right-wing, the Republicans, who are very right-wing, and the Tea Party, who are mad." There's a lot of rights Europeans have taken for granted that Americans are still either not ready for or are only just starting to come around to. Societal change moves slowly, but at least the Democrats are just moving slowly and not speeding in the wrong fucking direction. You can't keep that perspective in mind, you can't understand our elections. You can't understand our elections, you can't change them for the better.

Yes Joe i'll fondle you Biden painting himself as a champion of women ...... Hilarious

Yup Joe is pro gun control ...Too bad he never got any of it passed when the dems were in charge .It's almost as if he isn't sincere  Dodgy

Yup now Joe loves migrants .....Too bad that love has an extremely spotty track record

Ys because it's immature to hate the status quo and want actual change

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that he's got his serious flaws and that his record pales in comparison with most, if not all, of the other nominees. If Biden wins, it may well end up amounting to the choice between wolf in sheep's clothing and a wolf ravenously devouring some of the sheep. Sad thing is, this is kind of the nature of American democracy.

Like it or not, these are the choices we've got, though, at least in this case, some are objectively less horrible. If Biden wins, it'll probably just be a more ineffectual version of the Obama administration. If you think that there's no functional difference between that and a second term of Trump, you're simply profoundly delusional.

1. Biden won't beat Trump

2.No Joes track record is BAD

3.No it won't be like the Obama administration (which wasn't great to begin with)

RE: #BernieOrBust2020
1. Probably correct, especially if some of us don’t get some perspective and figure that he’s still the lesser of two evils and that we don’t really have the option of a truly good candidate yet, but still plausible even if the BernieOrBust movement isn’t a thing.

2. Definitely in comparison to every other Democratic candidate.

3. Citation needed. And, of course, I freely admit that the Obama administration was kind of a washout. Hell, I actually said so a couple posts ago (#15, specifically.) Still voted for Obama thrice, still don’t regret it because the Republicans in 2008 and 2012 were still worse. And things have only gotten more horrific on the Republican front.

This is a great cartoon and I think yes, the Democratic Party would rather rip itself apart than accept Sanders as the nominee:
