Okay, for those of people who were annoyed with the decision to remove the film from HBOMax (even though it was still readily available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and at least five other streaming services), it's back up, with a 4-minute-26-second introduction from a black scholar, with an hour-long discussion from a film festival about its complicated legacy.

One guy asked: Why don't they ban classics like Apocalypse now, etc for glorifying war?

Is war and death less offensive than happy slavery? Invading another country trying to change them politically IS a form of slavery?
Let's ban them all! lol It's a slippery slope. One other guys says that if you can't understand that it's not a documentary, you probably shouldn't be watching entertainment like this.
It IS entertainment, right? GWTW is not meant to be a boring 3.5 hr history lesson we HAVE to watch.

Because it was never banned, and wouldn't be banned even if hbo didn't carry it. Just like refusing to let someone speak at a private venue isn't a violation of free speech.
