How to calmly decline religiosity from religious associates

Here are some tips I normally employ:
  • Remind them that they are separate from religion, and that although religion is garbage, they are not garbage.
  • Remind them that yes, religion was once important, as mankind did not always have modern science. However, religion had become obsolete in the scientific revolution. An example is when Astrology was separated from Astronomy, things that used to be archaically treated together. (Wikipedia/Astrology and astronomy)
