OK, I'll play.
"Peeler" is a policeman. Thank you, Pterry!
"Pocket peeler" would be a knife. (?)
Unless "peeler" means "dick", as in the colloquial reference to a detective.
I have nowt on the rest of it.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

‘Pocket peeler’ is a miser, a selfish person. Someone who would rather peel a potato in his pocket than share it out.

Crack a fat - crack a stiffy or a half-mongrel.
Esky - Chilly bin.
It's not really a roaring fire either but I was being artistic.
Well done! But for ‘Big Smoke’, was thinking specifically of Belfast - never knew it was used for other cities. Thanks!

I take it you have never been to Pittsburg or Gary Indiana......

I used to live near a mill called Farleigh Mill in Queensland.
I don't think it's used anymore.
But the locals around my area used to say 'Farleigh Mill' instead of 'Fuck'.
So I was down in Margaret River, Western Australia, about 5000km from that mill and I heard I guy say it.
Apparently his dad used to say it and had worked the cane farms around Mackay in his youth.
The guy didn't even know there was a real Farleigh Mill. :-)

The bundle of rods around an axe (ancient Roman symbol of power) are called "fasces". Mussolini adopted that symbol for his party and they came to be called "fascists."

-What is ‘auld reekie’?
-What is ‘the big smoke’?
-What would you keep in an ‘esky’?
-What does it mean to ‘crack a fat’?
-Where would you go to purchase a ‘bawbie’?
-What does ‘Auntie Beeb’ do for a living?
-What is a ‘foilin upper’?
-What are you expected to do with ‘neeps’?
