Tax-dodging won’t hurt him with his base. Claiming to be a successful businessman while being hundreds of millions of dollars in debt just might (not a lot, but some).

See, if trump was a tiny fraction of a minimal genius, he would have made the Chinese bail him out Personally in return for not trying to levy tariffs on their imports. He could have coached it in terms of needing the Chinese to keep buying us treasures to subsidize the 3 trillion dollar stimulus (for keeping up economic appearances for His re-election)
But even in corruption, he is no genius.
Oh, the tariffs on Chinese goods does not seem to be reducing the trade deficits. Just increasing inflation pressure and screwing a good chunk of thr economy that depends on overseas supply chain.

Disagree about Mar a Lago. I think it should be turned into the Trump Presidential Museum And Library - the library shouldn’t take up much space, just some colouring books and sharpies.
The museum section could house various exhibits on how not to be a president.

To much of his base, he is there to stick it to the liberals. It is all the better if he prove incompetent at everything, because liberals tend to be educated and think competence and expertise matters. Nothing can be more rousing to the trump base than the spectacle of a moron who is no good at anything living the high life and seeming to pose impassable barrier to the liberals with their high flutin education and expertise.
