?
So... you're finally getting into the whole 'Lord of the rings'? Might I recommend the old Iron Crown Enterprises game system? Quite well researched plus rather good illustrations etc.

I played the RTS "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II", never heard of ICE's LOTRs games TBH, past the 2000s titles like "Middle Earth:Shadow of Mordor + Shadow of war" and the RTS titles pretty much overshadowed the early game titles. 'It could have been worse' isn't really a defense. Jackson took high fantasy and turned it into (mostly) thud and blunder.
I do find it telling, though, that you picked one of the worst scenes in ROTK to highlight. Boru

Well, the scene wasn’t in the theatrical release.
Much as peter Jackson’s or anyone else’s cinematic interpretation can’t possibly satisfy all who are of the various temperaments Needed to indulge in high fantasy, his First efforts were nonetheless as good as fantasy film out of Hollywood had ever gotten. I agree with you that I wouldn't have been satisfied with the films regardless of who made them. That, however, doesn't justify Jackson's playing fast and loose with his source material. To be fair, though, I couldn't have imagined the Bridge of Khazad Dum scene being any better. Boru

The LOTR movies rocked and Peter Jacksons a genius. Purism is boring when it comes to the fantasy universe.
