The Queen's Gambit - Hit Chess Miniseries

The Queen's Gambit - Hit Chess Miniseries
It's a game so is in this forum. Very fucking excellent IMO, although utterly ridiculous fantasy like Marvel in many ways. Any other users play? Come on then?! Where are you fuckers?! Seriously though, really worthwhile and entertaining series, despite the "little girl's can be as hard as Naval Seals" subtext - I'm only onto episode three.

I’ve always found chess to about as enjoyable as I imagine getting a colonoscopy from a hopelessly nearsighted proctologist who wasn’t about to be stampeded into that nonsensical germ theory would be.

I’ve heard a lot of good things, and even my therapist recommended it to me. Of course, My current plan is to wait for when I’m finished with Blue Mountain State and maybe The Prisoner on Amazon Prime.

I have considered watching it, but I'm holding back. Not certain yet if I'll actually watch it, but I might one day. We'll see.

You should learn the rules and not just stick the pieces up your ass.

The Prisoner, 1967 or 2009?

1967, of course.

Hey, I KNOW the rules of chess, alright? I'll prove it to you:

King - moves one square at a time, but only after two successive quarters of economic growth.

Queen - can prance across the board in any direction he likes. May collect 200 florins if he passes 'Go'.

Bishop - moves on the slant, the better to creep up on unsuspecting altar boys.

Knight - moves in an 'ell of a shape.

Rook - sometimes mistaken for the crow. Resents it.

Pawn - who the other pieces go to when they need to raise some quick cash.

So there.

I'm not going to watch it because I have read the novel some years back and I do remember it was very intriguing novel although it was about chess. And I also remember that Heath Ledger was actually planning to make it into a movie which he would direct.

Also, if you want to read another interesting novella about chess check out "The Royal Game" by Stefan Zweig.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
