Monotheism vs. Polytheism

Monotheism vs. Polytheism
Is polytheism better than monotheism? Or it the same thing?

It seems actually that monotheism is impossible because, for starters, there are bad things in the world, so monotheis need more supernatural beings like devils to "divert" the blame from God.

Indeed, religions like Christianity and Islam whose followers claim that their religion is monotheism are both actually Henotheism.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

RE: Monotheism vs. Polytheism
Yuval Harari in his book, A brief history of humankind talks about the two. Polytheism is more open and tolerant but lacks order. Monotheism offers more order and discipline but lacks pluralism.

Societies throughout the history have adopted both at one time or the other as solutions to the problems of the time. Post 17th century Enlightenment, both are dying breed.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

A load of bullshit, is a load of bullshit, no matter how it's divided.

RE: Monotheism vs. Polytheism
I like stories with many gods, some allied and some at odds.  When calamities commence and threaten all existence, the gods assemble, unite and as a single being fight.  Then in victory struggle again to separate as they did when the world began.
