Anyone got cats? Why is it a declawed cat, like mine, still rubs/scrapes his paws against surfaces as if to sharpen claws he does not have?

Cats don't do that just to sharpen their claws. It's also to mark territory (they have scent glands in their paws) and to stretch their back muscles.

Why don't you chop his legs off too - so it won't try escaping you? 
Why get a cat then damage it to make it stop behaving like a cat?

37 and I have gone all round the houses about the advisability of declawing cats. It didn't help.

I have a cat who is 13 now and still pretty spry for her age. She might be my last cat. I'm going on 73 and don't believe I'll survive past the age of 80. I live alone and would hate to have my cat starve to death or have to be put down after I die.

My third wife sat dead on our couch for five days (embolism) before I got really scared and asked the hospital staff to call the local police. One of the things they said was "we gave them what seemed to be an appropriate amount of food and filled the water bowls." I checked myself out of the hospital and promised I'd continue physical therapy when I got home.
