Sports, football vs figure skating......

Sports, football vs figure skating......
This NFL playoff season today, I hate commercials so I flip through channels.

So today, I was watching the Packers vs the Rams, and flipped through channels on the break and landed on a male figure skating competition in Las Vegas.

I can't do either. I suck at sports. But I do get tired of men who look at the sports of others and call it not a sport, or get homophobic about the other.

If some jackass who is all "I'll kick your ass if you pick on my college or NFL team" thinks they are badass, even as a mere fan. Most NFL players cannot do what a Olympic or professional figure skater can do, just like an Olympic figure skater cant do what Tom Brady or Lawrence Taylor can do.

I am no fan of figure skating, but like I said, I have never had any skill at any sport.

I grew up on ice skates.

While I wasn't graceful enough to do figure skating - I bet I could make you really look stupid playing hockey..

You could make me look stupid hunting.

If I was two inches away from a dart board, I would still miss the entire board.

I ice skated when I was a kid and teen. It's hard to figure skate on the front yard no matter how frozen it is but that's where I learned to skate. It's also not a great figure skating surface on a frozen creek. Those nice smooth rinks they do all the fancy stuff on surely makes it easier. Boy does a few hours of skating put your ankles through it.

A lot like the difference in roller skating at the nice polished and smooth rink and the rough go down an old sidewalk. I could do both pretty well.

For us ice skating was more about getting from where I lived - up on the hill - to the Main Street bridge where we would all congregate. The same meetings were more often done on bikes in good weather.

My take away from this is that figure skaters and footballers have different skills and do different things. So...different things are different.

I was ok at roller skating. I could do the leg twists and flip from forward to backwards, but I could not do any fancy twists or flips or leg extensions. Even with skateboarding, all I could do was tac left to right.

Even with basketball, I had a very short stint growing up, never being able to switch hands or flip the ball between my legs, I did have a short period, if I caught my defender with enough distance between us, I had a 3 pointer shot I could hit. But most of the time, I had my ass handed to me.

Thank you for stating the obvious, and that was the point of my post.

No, your post was pointless.  Once again, you were consumed by your pathological need to say something. Anything.
