Wind power has been around for centuries.

If it was more economical than other sources of energy it would have replaced steam power in the 19th century.

You're comparing a source of electricity to a source of mechanical force, while ignoring the facts of the day.  Nattering naybob.

Bullshit.

You are ignoring the economic realities. EVERY "successful green power source" is heavily subsidized by taxpayers.. They are not economically on par with other sources.

Period.

Your power grid is failing and Fox Noise is blaming it on the failure of wind turbines that only provide 20% of your power.

And now you want all electric cars - and nobody is building new power plants....

Gee - what could go wrong?

Actually I'm all in favour of building modern nuclear plants and closing down the older, more dangerous ones, along with coal-powered plants.

Augment those with wind and solar farms, or the other way around, and it's a good start.

As already pointed out green energy works even without government backing and fossils fuels receive billions in tax dollars to keep them viable. You can state your opinion but that all it is. Just like your nonsense about population reduction as a solution to resource issues despite it being totally false.

That doesn't mean they will not be in the long term.  Because they will.  You're hung up on start up costs the lies of oil company shills.  All sources required investors to start, whether private of public.  And if tax money pays for sustainable resources, that's a great use for it.

Moreover, renewable sources do not carry the operating costs of fossil fuels.  That's economic reality.

There viable now and fossil fuels take billions in public investment to stay viable.

Are you really proud of your ignorance?

Do you think you stick up a windmill - and it delivers free power forever?

Know what a set of blades cost? Do you know that those blades wear out? They do. Even more so in dry,  hot environments.

Know how long a windmill lasts?

In general a 3 mw unit will last 25-30 years before retiring. Under ideal conditions - you may get 7-10 years out of a $125,000 blade ( times 2 or 3). Under bad conditions (salty air, dusty environments) you could easily have to replace blades every 3 years.....

No free lunch, bud....

I didn't say free, son.  I said they don't carry the costs of fossil fuels.  But it's good you did some research.  I'm slowly bringing you along.

"Son"?

Whelp - I have skid marks in my skivvies older than you...

There's a reason they make electricity with fossil fuels -

It makes money.

Unlike windmills - which need taxpayer money to appear profitable.
