RE: St. Patrick’s Day Thread
I had my daily can of alcohol. It somewhat numbed the pain in my foot.

I will spend the afternoon in the dentist's chair breathing in the gas as deeply as I can.

I'm 98.3% Irish according to 23andMe. Before that I knew I was Irish on my parent's side of the family. I can trace the mob back to Ellis Island.

I might buy that bottle of Irish Whiskey that I've had my eye on for some time. Though I might not. I've got a bottle of Glenfiddich to replace, there's an Islay on sale, and I really want the Johnnie Walker green.

I guess the Johnnie Walker can wait. The Redbreast 12 year sounds delicious, though Two Stacks or Green Spot are options. The only Irish Whiskey I'm familiar with is Jameson, and I don't care for that.

If I buy every bottle I'd been thinking of buying this month, I'll have spent $600. Oh well.

(ETA: Two Stacks is on sale at Surdyk's. The 'dram in a can' 4-pack is only $15. That sounds like an excellent introduction to Irish Whiskey.)

And your wife still lets you sleep next to her?

She tells me it's like being in a rose garden.

Not unless you've been eating some smoked back bacon and colcannon with it.

Yes, stir fried with think cut bacon. No spuds.

Personally, I do not, as Patrick did more to fuck up Ireland than anyone I can think of. I mean, there we were, perfectly happy - using cows for money, giving women legal rights, flinging spears at each other, lopping off heads, just having a grand time. And then this Welshman comes along with his Catholicism and his crozier and bitches it all up. Fuck Saint Patrick and anyone who looks like him.

As it's National Drinking Day, you can imagine what I do. Cheers!

It isn’t possible to eat colcannon without cabbage.

I’m aware that some people make it with kale. It is permissible to beat these people with hammers.

You sir, are no Irishman, bacon and cabbage has to be boiled. And leaving out the prátaí, well that's a mortal sin.

I have a simple rule, there's nothing that can't be improved without a side order of cabbage, including cabbage. Even when making bacon and turnip, I include cabbage.

PS I love how kale, originally grown as a feed for animals is now considered a foodie snob food.

Yes... on Paddies day I phone my son and wish him a happy birthday! (no, he isn't called Patrick!)

I've pretty much settled for being called Patrick.
