Covid and the word "segregation". OP/ED

Covid and the word "segregation". OP/ED
What the hell? How does the word "segregation" fit in when talking about combatting a deadly virus?

Just now on Twitter, some white lady used the word "segregation" in arguing that her right to chose was being violated, acting as if she was a victim on par with the likes of Rosa Parks or Mandela or Palestinians.

No lady, mask mandates are not a form of segregation anymore than nationally mandated seatbelt laws are segregation. An epidimic or pandemic from a bactria or a virus are not, or should never be a political issue. COVID is a virus, it has no fucking capability of giving a shit whom it infects or kills. COVID will kill a Communist, American, Iranian, Chinese, Japanese, Jew, Mexican, Republican, Democrat, rich, poor, black, white, ect ect.

This stupid woman was acting like wearing a mask was  an act of oppression/segregation. NO, is is as simple as medical experts telling you what will keep you safer. NOTHING MORE.

As much as I think Biden has handled this virus in a far more effective way. I still do worry, even today, if we may not be rushing things. From the reports I have been seeing in the news, America needs to reach 80% to 90% vaccination, and we haven't gotten there yet. I hope this current trend to relax won't end us up like India by opening up too early.

I am so sick of the right on this issue thinking any call for safety is a call for oppression. This is the same bad bullshit logic as when someone does 65mph through a school zone in a 25mph zone, bitches about getting a traffic ticket.

Can’t be sure without the details of the story, but requiring masks IS a form of segregation - you’re segregating the people you allow into the shop from the people you don’t. ‘Segregate’ simply means ‘to set apart’.

It’s a bloody good idea to do that, but it’s still segregation.
