These vermin need to be disappeared.
I volunteer.
I didn't understand that at all. It was done by members of a group that wants to end the use of fossil fuels. I get that, I agree with that. But how does throwing soup on a van Gogh painting relate to their particular activism? Throwing soup on an oil executive (preferably soup in cans) would have made more sense.

A sheriff in Texas has signed off on a certification that the asylum seekers Ron DeSantis sent to Massachusetts were crime victims ('unlawful restraint'). This means that they are now eligible to apply for special visas that would allow them to remain in the US.

I hope this teaches the rest of them. Do stupid publicity stunts to appease racists and things will go poorly.

Boru, I think I understand what their idea was. It's like tons of oil get spilled into the ocean every and people don't care, but if someone spills something near a painting people go nuts. So they wanted to do something that will be noticeable.
It's like when the Cathedral Notre Dame got burned and some people were pointing out how people care more about some cathedral burning than the rainforest.
And on the same note, The Alaska Department of Fish and Game said this week it canceled the winter snow crab season in the Bering Sea for the first time because of a decline in the crab population. Biologists say the warming of the waters is a possible factor.
The crab population is seriously down. Something like a billion crabs disappeared from the ocean in the last two years, but if someone disrespects a painting, now there's a real tragedy.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It was a blip on the news and will be forgotten in a week. I’m not sure how this advances the cause.

their idea is essentially this, it is appropriate to blow up a kindergarten or hospital if doing so can seem to provide a platform for drawing attention to the fact that far more people are dying somewhere else.

Are there any incidents where eco-terrorists have blown up a kindergarten or a hospital?

Not that I can think of offhand, but "ecoterrorists" were the FBI's hottest domestic focus for years starting in the 90's and up until recently, nevertheless. They're still at it, but since they can't seem to get terrorism charges to stick...they satisfy themselves with simply calling environmental protest terror, and simply calling the defendants terrorists - and I'm sure it is and I'm sure they are...just absolutely fucking terrifying to the people who make their coin actively murdering every one of us. What are they supposed to do for a living if we won't put up with that anymore? It's not as if they have any other useful skill.

I’m not denying that they do a fair small amount of damage here and there (‘small’ compared to what political terrorists get up to), but it seems mostly restricted to things like sabotaging farming equipment and flinging paint on people wearing dead animal. I was just taken aback by the ‘kindergartens and hospitals’ claim.
Good job to the FBI for spending all that time and treasure hunting tree-huggers, though!
