OK how's this. What if you were poked 1000 times in the same spot identically, but only once a day (plenty of time to heal and return your body to it's same condition). Would you say the pain which isn't obviously cumulative therefore diminutive holds the same sway over your reaction to getting pricked as say (going through it again) vs. shoving a screwdriver under your fingernail? Has your fear response to the singular pin prick remained constant from before?

This test is assuming there's time in between the pricks to return to 100% (whatever that timeframe is) I think it would mentally be progressively worse, but would it be more physically painful?

Not if you have time to fully recover.
I think it would be mentally subdued, you would be used to it to the point where it becomes mundane.

Are you planning on being stuck with a million pin pricks any time soon?
If I kicked you in the nuts 50 times, would it hurt worse than if I kicked them once? Or would it be the same?

Psychologically, you might not be the same, but physically it can go two ways - either scar tissue from the pinprick will be more sensitive to it, or your skin grows callouses in defense.
Getting a tatt was fine (well...sorta...I did almost faint). Getting it touched up after it had healed and having the color run over scar tissue, that was just as bad as the initial two hour session.
Pricking my fingertips on needles and fabric pins used to suck. Now I don't notice it that much, unless I bleed on the fabric.
PS - I agree with Adrian's initial reaction to this thread.
