Of course, the rise of the alt-right shows how social shaming can backfire. White supremacists are rightly shamed for their execrable ideology, and this ends up reinforcing pre-existing racist groups and creating new hate groups where previously there had only been jackasses on message boards with very shitty opinions. And once a politician with their views actually ends up becoming popular, it results in them becoming more visible and powerful than they have been in half a century. And sometimes, it suckers in idiots who feel attacked for their unexamined beliefs and ends up feeding them lines if they don’t have the brains to see through their bullshit. 

Not saying social shaming isn’t important or necessary. Just that it’s a double edged sword.

The left told me that the feminazi authoritarians were only a small loud minority and that I shouldn't worry about them, but the alt-right was proven right. The establishment wants what the feminazis want in terms of censorship, etc, so they didn't need to have huge numbers to succeed. Now, I'm completely fine with nudism if the people in that society agree upon it, but it should be a choice in our societies. Christians are being charged for holding outdoor church services and for holding outdoor rallies. Preacher was being a jerk on the street, and was confronted by some angry people who blocked his path.  Neither were arrested, because no laws were broken.  I like how you call them "violent homosexual savages".  He even played the race-card (being black), insinuating that anyone who was against him was racist.

As for the second one, an alt-right church, declaring themselves above the law, decided to break health rules.  You may believe that the right to kill your members is the absolute right of a church, but the government disagrees.  That was after they were already charged for indoor services.  Were the outdoor services safe?  Perhaps if done right, but they did not work with health authorities.  They believed themselves above the law. IMO, if a church breaks health rules, and a member dies of covid from a church service, the board of the church should be charged with manslaughter.

We have the anti-maskers holding rallies in our city the past few months, with mostly alt-right church members and politicians attending.  No-one in the community has any use for them.  We want to open businesses, not stay a Delta variant hot-spot.

I advocate for the ideology that white people should not been seen as public enemy number 1. True. I'm not willing to fall on the sword and throw my whole race under the bus. I'm not willing to throw my beautiful, glorious white daughter under the bus, shit on a whole race of people, and then go burn down courthouses in my free time. I don't think it's very constructive. Why wouldn't I call them savages? They are. Am I supposed to take their side and give them a pass for their violence just because I'm also not heterosexual? Hell no. I'm not with identity politics like that.

The police have given more latitude to actual political protest than other actions.  Those "rallies" against masks in my city?  They were not charged.  Nearby golf course that tried to open early?  Charged.

Each side tries to depict itself as the victim, and there are always anecdotes that attempt to "prove" their point -- there is power in it.
