I thought this was somewhere but I couldn't seem to find it. Do we think it would be worth the effort and feasible to have the ability to just mute people. I know we have that, but it gets them everywhere, and you have to go turn it off and on.
What if when we went to ignore someone from a thred, it would ask, "just in this thread", "just in this section" or "everywhere" ... idk... thoughts?

I only know of the ignore function and you know how that works.
This is a question for one of the more tech savvy. Maybe one will show up soon.

We can't do this with the forum software as is, but there might be a plugin that could accomplish this. I can't make any promises but I like this idea and I will look into it.

It actually would be nice to have people on ignore to not appear in one's alerts. I don't know what that would take, beyond my eyes just sliding by the stupid posts...which is how I usually handle it.

Not too much of an issue really.
We ignore most people in real life who give us the shits, same deal here. 2 or 3 mouse wheels or screen swipes and it's over.
It's the 90/10 rule again. 90% of those who put someone on ignore are happy to ignore everything they post.

This isn't a forum wide block but a block so a person doesn't have to see another's posts.
It isn't a suggestion to delete them from the forum though there are times that would be preferable IMO.
