No, they didn't have socialist or capitalist projects they had Nazi projects you can't compare the Nazi's economics idea's to anything else.
Social programs aren't socialist lots of other economic and political theories have them
Private ownership and markets aren't Capitalist lots of other economic and political theories have them

Conservatives mostly have their head up their ass. The USA has benefitted greatly from socialist policies over the years and it hasn't been much of an obstacle for capitalism or entrepreneurship. In some cases socialist ideas have resulted in fertile ground for capitalism to thrive. The new deal opened up new areas and provided power to new places that allowed new businesses to thrive. One thing big government can do that business can but doesn't because it is allergic to risk it genuinely huge projects. Just think about the technologies gained from the space program and the Internet.

Well, so do Liberals, but here's the thing.......Liberals and Conservatives both want the same things, it's just that Liberals are more willing to be under-handed in their rhetoric, while Conservatives take a more straightforward approach. That's the only difference. Both ideologies can (and have) lead/led to overbearing governmental structures.

Perhaps we do, but not because of a complete and total misunderstanding of what Marxism or socialism is. And that is the topic of this thread, btw.
We most certainly do not want the same things. Liberals appreciate diversity and egalitarianism and actually want all Americans to do well and thrive. Conservatives have this perverted belief that if you aren't white and Christian, there must be something wrong with you.
Under handed rhetoric? Straight forward approach? You are completely full of shit, you know that? Do some fucking homework you dipshit.

So, for examination is how Republicans reacted to work stoppages before the progressive era, and some after. The common response was for the government to utilize the military to force workers back to work. This is certainly not Marxism at work. You could say its Fascism though I'm not certain of that. TR faced similar circumstances in his time as president but refused to force workers back to work using the military. So what does this represent in terms of social balance and fairplay?
