Not a fan of JJ Cale?  He wrote After Midnight too.

In the 1880s, the centre of the UK flax industry was in Dundee, Scotland.  The men who combed out the flax before it was spun were called 'hacklers', from the comb - a hackle - that was used.  A tradition grew up in the flax works that one man would read out the daily newspapers to the others.  This - expectedly - caused disagreements among the workers that frequently devolved into shouting at each other and sometimes came to blows, interrupting the work.

Thus, any person who attempted to derail a speaker with loud, boisterous interruptions became synonymous with the behaviour at the flax works, and these  people were also called 'hacklers', which eventually devolved into 'hecklers'.

I found out that ABBA has a song with a bar of 5/4 in it. (actually a few bars when repeated).
I bet Brian doesn't know which one. :-)

Just found out that the clamps on all vehicle radiators always allow for a flat screw driver at a minimum.
This makes sense after thinking about it as you may only have a small coin in the middle of nowhere to undo it.

Also, found out that all Roll Royce shells are made in Germany and then sent to England for finishing. Good ol' British ingenuity!

The phrase 'daylight robbery' originally had nothing to do with especially bold muggers or  insanely overpriced shops (although it has come to mean the latter).

In the 1690s, the court of William III proposed to tax incomes.  This idea was wildly unpopular not because people objected to being taxed, but because they felt that their incomes were none of the Crown's business. So, an alternative plan was adopted whereby houses with above a certain number of windows would be taxed as other property, but at a higher rate (this amounted to basically the same thing as taxing incomes: the more windows you had, the bigger your house was, and the bigger your house was, the more money you had).

People who didn't want to pay the increase would get round it by bricking up enough of their windows to qualify for the lower rate.  They felt that having to do so meant they were being robbed of daylight, hence 'daylight robbery'.
