Apparently, Lucy Sante, author of such books as Low Life and The Factory of Facts, is trans. I double taked on seeing her new name on an article about Bob Dylan, and, wondering what was going on, I confirmed that she started transitioning in February 2021.

Was wondering why the show was called The Kids in the Hall.
Quote:The Kids in the Hall adopted their name from a Sid Caesar gag.
Whenever Sid Caesar bombed a joke, he’d say that it had been written by “the kids in the hall,” referring to the young upstarts working for him in the NBC studio of Your Show of Shows. Dave Foley and Kevin McDonald were big Caesar fans, but they didn’t choose the name solely because of that admiration. The “kids” Caesar was goofing on in the 1950s included Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, and others who the new “Kids” also loved.

NRA-style mousetrap from 1862.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Apparently, now you have to schedule an appointment to renew your driver’s license at the DMV. That said, it will be impossible to do so because it will still be booked that solid.
The closest one to me with ANY appointments open is 32 miles away.
Also, if you want to photograph your Bear In A Cage, you have to turn on the flash if you want to see anything:

That's happening here too with the DMV - ever since COVID. Luckily it's about three years before I have to renew mine and since my last one was in person I can renew online next time. You would think the DMV has been a thing long enough that they would have the process figured out.

Our DMV has the option to schedule appointments but they still take walk-ins, they just have to wait in line.
