Stupid things religious people say
RE: Stupid things religious people say
IDK, maybe try walking the other way.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

People predict second-coming of Jesus Christ after bizarre sighting

[Image: Some-believe-that-the-unusual-sighting-f...88079.avif]

An asteroid named 2024 PT5 entered Earth's orbit on October 5 2024, and now many people on TikTok have claimed that this could be the Star of Jacob.

Taking to TikTok, teenager Jacob Rutkowski claimed in a video that the 'Star of Jacob' prophecy was coming true.

In the viral video Jacob claimed: "This star is not just your ordinary star. This star shows us that our King is coming very soon.

"I'm not meaning hundreds of years, I'm talking about soon. Very soon."

The TikTok clip has amassed thousands of videos with @carriherl3 exclaiming “He's coming!!!! Our King is coming!!!!".

Whilst @Ranchboy7 said: “Yes, he is coming… LORD count us worthy to escape the judgement that’s coming upon the whole world. Amen.”

Another said: “I believe he is coming but not as soon as people think because no one knows the hour or day.”

but.. it's not a star it's an asteroid!
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Top Catholics remind us again to embrace suffering instead of avoiding it because it's part of god's love and plan.

Quote:UK’s top Catholic bishop urges faithful to lobby MPs to oppose assisted dying

“The radical change in the law now being proposed risks bringing about for all medical professionals a slow change from a duty to care to a duty to kill,” he added.

The archbishop of Westminster continued: “The suffering of a human being is not meaningless. It does not destroy that dignity. It is an intrinsic part of our human journey, a journey embraced by the eternal word of God, Christ Jesus himself. He brings our humanity to its full glory precisely through the gateway of suffering and death.”

This Christian pastor tackles the age-old question in The Washington Times, and it seems he gives a positive answer.

Quote:Should Christians participate in Halloween?

In the later part of the 1800s, America officially embraced Halloween (“All-Hallows Eve”) as a communal celebration of costumes, candy-giving, scary tales, the spiritual realm, the dead, and witchcraft. Similarly, other Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter have pagan roots escalating and prevailing in our current cultural festivities.

I have heard former participants of the occult warn Christians not to let their children trick-or-treat because wicked people pray curses over the candy! So what? This should not drive us into a place of fear and disengagement but rather into a closer relationship with Jesus. Indeed, those whose faith is simply intellectual and ritualistic are certainly vulnerable to those curses. But if we have an intimate relationship with Jesus through His Spirit, then absolutely nothing can harm us in the spiritual realm. Their curses are useless against the presence of God.

Costuming for Halloween as creatures aligning with death, the occult, and evil is foolish, but a Christian is sanctioned to participate as an agent of life in the midst of the darkness. That is why we are here! We can dress as biblical characters and share stories of how the light of Christ comes into our dark world to give life to all who believe in Him. We can be witnesses to the truth despite the immense chaos that surrounds us. And we can participate like Jesus did (in His same character) and thereby be ambassadors of His hope, reconciliation, and restoration.

So there you go. Christians can participate in this pagan holiday because Jesus will protect them from the demons roaming around, but only if they dress as biblical characters.

^Dressing as Biblical characters seems appropriate - John the Baptist (post-beheading), Sisera with the tent peg though his skull, Agrippa being eaten alive by worms, Eglon with the knife in his gut…all blessedly Biblical!
