As of March 13 (admittedly 9 days after the VAERS data is from), 328507974 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were given in the US.

Odds of a side effect worth noting: 1 in 988.
Odds of a severe side effect: 1 in 7203.

And for the record, I decided to compare that to the odds of getting in a car crash. I didn’t find stats for that directly, but I did find that esurance estimated 1 in 366 odds for getting in a car crash per 1000 miles. Multiply that by the average American driving 14,263 miles per year, I got odds of 3.897%. Just a bit less than 1 in 25 every year. Yearly odds of dying in a car crash? For 2020, it was 1 in 7782 (note: to access, click "data table", then "download table," and there should be an option to view it as a web page). Which is only 8% lower than the odds of getting a severe side effect from the Pfizer vaccine.

TL;DR: The odds of getting a severe side effect from the Pfizer vaccine (which may or may not actually be from the vaccine) are slightly higher than the odds of dying in a car crash in a given year.

And what are the odds of a healthy child dying of Omicron? Practically zero.

In the real world, deaths from COVID, even from children, have spiked since Omicron started to spread. And a more recent article about the problem.

And that's not even getting into the problem of children transmitting the disease to older and more vulnerable people, or the problem of long COVID still being a problem for children under omicron or that, for that matter, not only do we routinely vaccinate people for diseases that are far more likely to be deadly for older children (measles comes to mind), quite a few jurisdictions (including the one I live in) have made said vaccinations mandatory and people didn't raise that much of a stink about the idea until 2020.

No doubt response will be that's not enough dead children or not high enough likelihood they will die in IA's credulity to justify vaccinations, And then the goalpost will move ever on Dodgy

871 child deaths out of around 72 million children, by your numbers. That's a very small chance of dying of covid, and that's not even taking into account children who were already in poor health/ had co-morbidities, so the number is quite a bit lower when talking about healthy children. These numbers are certainly not to the point where we need to be mandating the vaccine for school children.

I never claimed an adult shouldn't take the vaccine because of this new Pfizer data. If people on the forum had it their way though, I bet they would rather this information be covered up and not released, just so people don't use it as an excuse not to get vaccinated. The ends justify the means. In this manner, people here are acting like Christians covering up their ears, not wanting to hear information. They would prefer this information is kept covered up and somehow they have become shills for big pharma, which is the opposite of what places like this forum used to be. It's such a shame. No matter which way people want to interpret the data, Freedom of Information Act releases should always been seen as a good thing. The more information we have to assess a situation, the better, and this will always be the case.

So I take it that things like children transmitting the virus to more vulnerable adults or the fact that 25% of children who show symptoms end up developing long-haul COVID simply don’t matter in your eyes? That the 1 in 4 chance that their illness will end up going on for months on end is less meaningful than the fact that their chances of dying are minuscule? That because of that there’s no point in insisting on them getting vaccinated, even though not only are they still extremely effective in preventing not only the disease, but serious complications in those who still ended up getting it, but mandatory vaccines for children for diseases far more likely to kill adults have been around for decades in many jurisdictions including my home state?

But hey, 10 LET THE VIRUS FLOW 20 GOTO 10, amirite?

RE: Covid 19 conspiracies dump
A survey of Canadians shows that the unvaccinated are 12 times more likely to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine than the vaccinated; 26 percent of the unvaccinated agreed the Russian invasion is justified versus 2 percent who are fully vaccinated.

Quote:The study concludes the results point “to the highly corrosive influences of disinformation.” “This is definitely a new and bluntly insidious force that’s contributing to polarization and disinformation and poor decision-making. And it doesn’t seem to be going away. Things are getting worse,” said [EKOS president Frank] Graves. “I don’t think this is because those people had an ingrained sympathy to the Russians. They’re reading this online, they’re consuming this from the same sources that were giving them the anti-vax stuff.” …

… Graves said those with three vaccine doses rejected disinformation about vaccines, supported public health measures including vaccine passports, and expressed support for Ukraine. He said the survey shows that with fewer doses, acceptance of disinformation grows, as does sympathy for the Russian invasion.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
