You can root for whoever you like, naturally, but it’s kind weird that you keep changing the reason why.

Still not getting it. I am neither a Tampa fan or a Patriots fan. Dynasties are fun for the fans of the team who holds that dynasty for sure. I'd love to see Washington dominate like we did in the 80s. But you are right, I am also rooting against Brady, because he is not letting go. Two reasons can be valid at the same time. I don't see how someone could not be satisfied with 10 Super Bowl shows and 7 wins. If our species doesn't end up in a nuclear war, Brady's record is virtually unbreakable, and would have been so even if he never went to Tampa. Brady shattered Bradshaw's Super Bowls wins by 3. That is a record that will be extremely hard to beat by one player.

Ultimately it strictly is an underdog reason.

Maybe he’s still playing simply because he loves the game. It may not be - for him - solely  about the money or his stats.

I know, right? Some people can’t seem to resist living vicariously through sports figures.

Does this mean you don't consume any form of entertainment that you don't produce yourself?  No movies, music, art, sports...you name it.  The answer to your questions is that it's entertainment.  The form of entertainment people choose depends on their tastes.  Personally, I can't imagine spending a single moment controlling cartoon figures on a TV screen, but this appears to be the primary form of entertainment for most males in the world.  There's simply no accounting for taste.

And it turned out to be a pretty good game.  Brady did his usual clutch performance but the real story is that the Pats have a QB who appears capable of growing into a truly great player himself.
Why is it so?
