For real? These things exist? You would be a statistical anomaly if you followed your own rules and don’t ban people for whatever personal reason.
I mean I’d like to believe and I believe by default so I will try to take this site on the internet more seriously.

Welcome to the world of statistical anomalies. If we banned people on a whim, you’d already be gone.

Yeah, sometimes it's a shame that staff has to follow the rules too.

Anyway, why don't you let us learn a little about you while you learn a little about us.

Welcome aboard, at any rate.

Yeah anything can happen in discussions. For example you may be exposed as leftists, or as spiritually dead, or confused or just like a religion. Can you handle all these or ….. BAN?

Me?  Unlikely.  In a charitable view of your comments I'm far right, extremely spiritual, and openly religious.  I don't wield the banhammer anymore....but I wasn't exactly zealous in it's use when I did.  We used to have some rules around here banning pure proselytization...for example...but they've since been dropped.  I always wondered how we could expect a person who really believes to avoid any of that.

I mean...make a thread - but... I wonder what it is you have to say that you need to preface this way? There's a good chance we've heard it before from other members who are still here. Unless it's some super dark loon shit that no one else could come up with (a high bar here), mind you.

Thanks for the welcome and I just glanced at your forum rules. My initial reaction first of all is : Oh My God.
You have too many rules but they’re standard to most boards and this will raise some more questions from me.
I see trolling, disruptions or derailing on almost every thread on the internet and here lies the conundrum: are you going to police every thread or are you going to leave it alone. Maybe you’ll react on only when people report. Even then you might ignore the reports because you may protect your friends here and their egos. If you don’t act on it then why the rule?
I’m speaking from experience here by the way which is why I’m asking these questions.
You also have etiquette rules which I personally find even more ridiculous to enforce since they’re in the grey area and mostly get acted upon by friends or groups of friends not because The Rule was broken.

What do you think about all these preliminary ideas?

You'll see all of that trolling here, too. The mods and admins are permissive. I think that's a good thing, on balance. Better to stay the hand than come down on every asshole at first convenience.

When you say that you think our rules are untenable, is that you telling us that you came here explicitly to be an asshole and will follow through on that intention?

It won't go well.

Let's take this to a thread that isn't the intro. That's where we can have a discussion.

Aha! I knew it. The BOSS does not like the words I’ve said.
All right, I am going to do some observing in the mean time and open a topic and see where it goes. It will most likely end in a ban. Smile
