I experienced a massive Northern Lights display once in 1980 - up on a moutaintop outside of Kodiak Alaska....
We could even hear it. ..... We were all buzzed on acid - but there was 5 of us - and we all heard the same things...... Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" Lol Actually - yes. It was dead calm and cold - well under freezing. We had a big canvas we laid down on the snow and multiple woolen blankets. We all laid down - got comfortable and just watched and listened. (We had 2 12 gauge shotguns loaded with 3 1/2 inch slugs too...bear country) The nearest houses were about 6 miles away. Town was 15. But there were a few people about. We occasionally did hear somebody talking. Of course we could all hear each other breathing and making bodily noises... Alaska at night can be freaky quiet and any sound at all carries a long way... |
