There's not always a good reason, and it's not always a reason related to the actions of the fired, but I would completely agree that there is always a reason, usually more than one.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

I get this from my millennial son all the time. 'Everyone/society is out to get me'. It gets old and tired very fast.

For once, Brewer, you're off point. Maybe you should ask me why I feel/felt so aggrieved? I'll tell you. Respect 99.5% For the record, I feel that "most" of local society is my friend and out/inclined to be good and kind to me. I am also 40 years old, and thus SIGNIFICANTLY older than your reported son. Woof?

Why should I have to ask? It's your thread, just state what the issue is.

It's attitude, a way of perceiving your world and not necessarily age related (but you and my son are only 6 years apart). You listed all of your 'attributes' that should have made your employer thrilled and yet still you have to quit because 'they' found something wrong and treat you like scum for no reason.

I happen to believe that there is a reason. Nothing personal but this attitude is not how to win friends and influence people.

Oh no another cishet white dude is being persecuted. I feel your plight man…I can’t truly understand it but I do feel for you. I’d share some of my queer lady benefits with you but being that I am white I don’t get many. Have you tried looking less white? Maybe Donald Trump will let you borrow some of his rub on tan? It seems to be working for him.

Commitment to your sense of decency is self-interest.  If you are not happy with your job, get another.

You haven't elaborated on the indignities your employer inflicts on you.  I hope they're not truly egregious.  Try to be skeptical of your own damn self, check your pride, and focus on things you like about going to work.  Ask if standing up for a belief yields benefit or is a complication you can avoid.

Giving that advice to an atheist seems unnecessary.  But I'm not one to let workplace bullshit linger in my thought.  I love what I do, and work has never not sucked.

You may be unaware but 40 years old is a millennial too… you can’t be that much older

I actually wept just now watching this, the opening credits from one of my very favourite childhood cartoons. Cool story bro - thought I'd share...and, yes, this is a "pathetic" cry for attention, more or less.

Maybe if you weren't such a whiny self entitled little baby, you'd have kept your job?

People like you are always a pain to work with.

Situations like this is why I am going to choose never to leave my new job of 7 weeks. Maybe I am just too insecure, but given employment-at-will, it's just too easy to get fired. In addition to doing a good job at the office/workplace, you need a sponsor, someone who will at least protect you and your job. Don't pissoff your coworkers or management and be loyal to your sponsor, if you're fortunate to get one. Worst case scenario have things together when filing for unemployment.
