NO Insurance company will provide liability coverage for INTENTIONAL HARM. They also don' t cover suicides.
So - the only coverage would be for negligence - which are a small minority of gun deaths - the vast majority being suicide
So no payday for all the murder victims..
It's not primarily about intentional harm. If you look at the various policies in the link I quoted, the insurance is intended to benefit the policy holder, and (in the case of the NRA policies), is geared chiefly towards self-defense shootings. If you get sued for shooting an intruder, a gun liability policy would - among other things - relieve you of the nightmare of having yourself represented by a public defender.
You'd think gun owners would be all over this.
Boru Have you ever actually dealt with an insurance company? It sure doesn' t sound like it.
First - if you shoot up a school - no coverage due intentional harm. Suicide - ditto.
If you shoot simebody in self defense - you think your insurance company is going to come running to your rescue? Are you that stupid? They are NOT going to provide you a lawyer - as it is in their best interest for you to be found unjustified in your shooting - so they can invoke intentional harm and refute liability.
THAT is why the NRA unsurance is cheap - they plan on NEVER paying out.
Jesus... You BELIEVE that " you're in good hands" bullshit?

There are places in the world with stronger oversight and accountability with respect to insurers. I can see how it might seem like a less futile and/or onerous notion in any of those places. Even, in at least some contexts, here.

There goes all that protect and serve bullshit, huh. That’s something I’ll probably never understand. Why would a person go into that line of work if trying to save kids from a shooter was a bridge too far? Can’t be the pay.

We e found all sorts of common ground in the last few days. I also see the disingenuous nature of those lines, and think that policing has become no better than a racket….assuming it was ever anything else.
All obvious areas for government reform.

Real hardened target there bunky....
I'm just debunking your lie that the school was a soft target. BTW I like how you're just going to ignore the 3 police officers and focus on an security guard (assuming you're talking about an actual security guard and not a cop).
Still want to drool about " hard targets" ??
No rent a cop.
Monster entered thru an unlocked door.

Why would they need a rent a coo, they have an SRO onsite and at least two tasked supporting officers. A small army of cops at least close enough to get their children out while they actively prevent other parents from doing the same. Even BP showed up, maybe their ears pricked when they heard “ramos”.
The school was reasonably hard, the staff were lax, and the cops….well, they’re cops…so I don’t really know what can be said there. Business as usual, apparently.
