It's fucking ridiculous, we have to come up with space age solutions to the problem of bronze age militancy?  Get the fuck outta here.  Take the guns from the seditionists and it ends.  Immediately.

Ron DeSantis is into antisemitic conspiracies

Quote:In his tweet Thursday, DeSantis also falsely accused Bragg of “consistently [bending] the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct” and of being funded by left-wing philanthropist George Soros. Soros is a frequent target of baseless right-wing accusations rooted in antisemitism.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Lauren Boebert Obsessed With Public Urination

Quote:In bizarre scenes in a US House hearing, the far-right Republican Lauren Boebert asked if a revised Washington DC criminal code was now law – only to be reminded that Congress  it earlier this month – then fixated on whether that code would have decriminalised public urination.

Quote:The pro-Trump Coloradan, who has a history of inflammatory behavior, asked: “You led the charge to reform DC’s crime laws. Is that correct?”
Allen said: “I chaired the committee that proposal came from, yes.”
Boebert said: “You led the charge, yes sir. And these changes are now law here in DC. Correct?”
Allen said: “You mean the revised criminal code? No, those are not the law.”

Boebert appeared confused. Mendelson said: “The revised code was rejected by – ”
Cutting Mendelson off, Boebert pressed Allen.
“Did you or did you not decriminalise public urination in Washington DC? Did you lead the charge to do so?”
Allen said: “No. The revised criminal code left that as a criminal.”
Boebert repeated: “Did you lead the charge to decriminalise public urination in Washington DC?
Allen said: “No, ma’am.”
Boebert said: “Did you ever vote in favor of decriminalising public urination in Washington DC?”
Allen said: “The revised criminal code that was passed by the council kept it as a criminal offense.”
Boebert said: “Did you ever support this criminal” offense status?
Allen said: “I voted for it, yes.”
Boebert said: “You voted to keep it as a criminal offense?”

Is this called buffet-style religion?

Lauren Boebert, whose teen son got his girlfriend pregnant, says she doesn't want to 'nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong'

In a Thursday interview on "The Rubin Report," a conservative political talk show, host Dave Rubin asked Boebert if her son getting his girlfriend pregnant "challenged" any of her beliefs.

"Obviously, I'm a Christian, and there are standards that we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly," she told Rubin. "We can nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that heart posture of wanting to serve God, it's so important."

Boebert added that she plans to teach her son "about redemption and how to move forward."

Boebert was a teen mother herself. She began working at McDonald's when she was 15, and dropped out of high school in 2004 when she became pregnant with her then-boyfriend Jayson Boebert's child. She later married him, and they now have four children together.

The congresswoman has been vocal about her religious views, often invoking God when talking about politics.

In an address at a Christian center in Colorado in June, Boebert said she was "tired" of the separation of church and state, and added that the church should "direct the government."

In February, she also suggested without evidence or substantiation that God used her to stand up to "demons" such as Rep. Kevin McCarthy.

Frankly, I'm amazed that this revenue stream escaped institutionalization.  Probably wouldn't have much of an effect on criminal enterprise or mass shootings - but it would likely cut down on "accidents" of the gun cleaning and domestic varieties....

I'm of the opinion that we don't actually have a gun problem, though. We have a law enforcement problem, and a terrorist problem. The two are related, and, together, give the impression of the gun problem - but only because we aggressively frame them to avoid cultural discomfort. Yet another service the absurd gop provides.

Nah, let them have all the guns they want.

And start charging $1,000 per bullet and $5,000 for each accessory.

Wealthy people aren't the ones committing gun crimes in the US. Most of the mass gun murders are done by members of the Billy Joe Bubba Jim Bob set.

As an aside, USian conservatives are forever prating that, 'It's not a gun issue, it's a mental health issue'. Funny how mental health issues don't seem to be shooting up schools in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand...

Dunno, I don't listen to Chris Rock so I've never heard him say that.

Also, the profits would go to a charity to help victims of firearms.

The Texas legislature is considering a bill to place chaplains in public schools to perform the duties of school counselors. The chaplains would not need to be certified as educators or counselors, and would not be required to report the suspected rape or molestation of student.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong??
