The "Take it or leave it" Approach

The "Take it or leave it" Approach
Another shocking event that we faced last week during the speech of one of the prominent figures of the Iranian regime was something like “Those who wish to live in this country shall respects the rules of Islam (or the rules that we are dictating to our population as “Islam”. In short what he is saying is “Like it or leave it”.

This automatically reminded me of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s speech on the CNBC when she was saying “We must fight, fight and Fight” (https://youtu.be/vgWeHBcbKl8?t=44)

“Take it or leave it” is something you can say in some religious cults established somewhere in the desert of Nevada. You cannot say something like this if you are ruling a nation-state with millions of inhabitants. You have no other option but to rule in a way that suits the interests of every inhabitant of that nation. Even in the case middle age kingdoms or the nations of antiquity, rulers at least pretended to try to integrate and accept every social element of their subjects into their rule.

And it is so unfortunate to see that most of young people in so many nations have but one dream: To leave their country of birth for a country they don’t even know about because they were told that “if they don’t fit in. Than they must leave (or die, or worse). It is really pure madness to see so many Russian young (and old) people leaving their country and saying “first I will find a country that accepts me, than I will find a country in which I will start a new life”. And another insanity is the never ending refugee crisis in the Mediterranean. We clearly see people undergoing atrocities, going through deserts and (knowingly) throwing their lives away in the sea just to be able to seek asylum, again, in a country where they are going to be exploited at best.

And what I see here is the parasitic nature of dictatorial / populist ideologies. They can’t just say “we are thugs and from know on we shall take everything from you and give you nothing” instead they we say “We are the true Germans” or “Islam is our gift to our people” or “We the one who will lead you to the utopic socialist society”. And in reality, everyone is either hiding or fleeing. I am using the word “parasitic ideology here” because very few of them can be frank enough to say “I have the weapons, I am the big chief and you shall all obey me”. They just cannot say that. It is (and had never been) possible to say that in human history. So they need a living body or bigger organism from which they can get their vital nutriment so they can at least fool some section of society who will be stupid enough to say “Oh but they are here to defend our nation against barbarians” or “This man is a true defender of our honor”. Because there are morons in every society. All they need to do is to find a way to tap into them and then they are here for some 30-40 year for good. Just like blood-sucking parasites in our digestive system. If you say something like “This is not the interest of my nation” or “This is not the nature of my faith” or “This is not what Karl Marks was about” they will want to crucify you. They will really hate you because it’s their life lines that you are cutting away.

I wrote in a lengthy manner on this subject because I saw some trolls operating in the internet doing just that. This example is about political Islam. So their technique will be to say things like “Islam is exactly what the Iranian regime or the Taliban is making of it.” Or “İslam = Al-Qaida”. If you respond and say something like “Hey, I’m from a Muslim tradition, I never did anything like that. So hove come…?”. The next answer will be something like “You (who was born to a Muslim family in a Muslim country) know nothing about Islam and actually you are a very bad person who does not understand anything about any of these issues. (Just like a true supporter of the Iranian regime would tell me if I was to have a conversation with him / her” – They would ostracize me from their religion because they are the true knowers of what “real religion” is).

And this is a life line of the parasite. On national interest issues: It’s always the other party. As far as I can observe, it’s always the political party who is opposing the “nationalist” party who is ruining the country. And the other party has to be an extremist of some sort. Marrine Lepen for instance wants “A Europe of nations” (that is a EU of free trade only). If she was to come to power, lead France into such a disaster and people end up being jobless in the street it will be the fault of the opposition party (who wasn’t even in charge during these reforms. And you cannot blame them of disregarding national interest for all of us are left-wing extremist who don’t understand anything about anything even if they are the ones who screwed up the country in the first place.

And it’s the same mechanics in socialism too. Again. It’s the lifeline of the parasite. So (at least when it existed to some extent) you couldn’t really criticize socialism in the name of socialism. In the late 80’s I had seen towers in big squares in the biggest cities of Bulgaria. I was told that in earlier times there were soldiers ready to shoot (on the population) on top of these towers. And in the 90’s, when you would talk to a “socialist” the first thing you would notice would be their arrogance and there completely closed state of mind and their military level of adherence to their interpretation of the Marxist socio-economical approach. And again, it’s also a lifeline. What is the regime in Cuba without “socialism”? It’s just a gang who happens to be in control of an entire island (just like Haiti). So what are you going to tell people when you kidnap them from the street and you start using torture methods on them? What will be their sin?

- You can’t just tell them “I am the big guy so you shall kiss my … and you shall do it now” (humans stopped doing this since they became homo-sapiens). So they need their nutriment, they need the blood of the body they have tapped to. They need to tell that youth “Do you not remember all that Fidel Castro has done for us in this country? Are you a lover of the decadent Western way of life?” (And looking from here they are far away in the West side of the globe in comparison to where I am).

And the error that this youth will be led to will be to say: “Well he might be right, so why do I not try to make my way through to sharks and try to reach Florida? (And be deported back to Cuba if he doesn’t drown in the currents of the Atlantic Ocean).

So all I am asking is “Who are they to say that?” They are the authority and they are the ones who should go if they are visibly incompetent in the management of the country they have been put in charge of. What I am saying is that that narrative is wrong. The true narrative is: “You want to be a nationalist, a Muslim, a socialist in the way you understand it? Than go ahead and be that Mr. And if you think I’m preventing you from doing it, it’s you who first came out with a given interpretation of nationalism / İslam or socialism. So logically it’s you and you friends who are to look for solutions “like creating a sectarian, isolated community in the desert of Nevada in order to be able the way you thing is the best way of living for a true nationalist / believer or socialist or whatever.

I think people must see this. These are parasitic ideologies. All you have to do is to separate them from their host, and all that is left is what they are: maggots.

Short version: dictatorships are bad.

And, FWIW, you absolutely can rule based on ‘love it or leave it’. History gives multiple examples of doing just that. What you can’t do is govern that way.
