(George Carlin) My guess is that the pope and priests think that they talking directly to God and therefore think that they have the authority to write books on marital problems, although they have not just never been married, but are virgins. They think that they are like Jedis talking to the force.

Most Catholics don't believe in any of it; they have other motives for participating.
