We function better with it.  We can perform complex tasks more easily. 

In case of blindsight we can perform complex tasks without  any qualia

Not as good as a human and were not IA's were organic beings and how have you determined IA don't have subjective experiences are you an AI? And again you make this very silly claim that evolution speaks of essentially rather simple usefulness. Something doesn't have to be critical to survival to be useful and passed on.
