Why did Communists promote Evolution?

I'll care what the Catholic Church thinks about something once they care about cooperating in the criminal prosecution of the child-molesters in their ranks.
Until then, they're just another bunch of two-bit, hypocritical scumbags. 
What a pointless thread. Even if evolution is false, that wouldn't count as evidence for intelligent design. I can stipulate that life was designed and show that you can't show God was the designer.

Pretty sure The Communists promoted evolution because they wanted a technological lead over The Capitalists.

Oddly enough, the Soviets pushed a theory of evolution, Lysenkoism, that was just wrong.
That's the usual result when ideology is allowed to affect science.
