More importantly, which hostile nation that thought 464 million was too much to buy a potential president will now step up. Russia? Saudi? DPRK? Someone else?

I've been thinking it for some time now but didn't want to go on record with it.  I think Trump is going to lose.  Despite the polls, I think he's got too many headwinds to overcome.

I agree. There's too many Republicans who won't turn out because of all his legal woes, fascist statements, or both. And just like 2020, this election is about turnout.

"I wish that as Republicans, we had ... a nominee that I could get behind,” Murkowski told CNN. "I certainly can’t get behind Donald Trump."

In an interview, Murkowski would not say if she would remain a Republican, CNN reported on Sunday.

Asked if she would become an independent, Murkowski said: "Oh, I think I’m very independent minded. ... I just regret that our party is seemingly becoming a party of Donald Trump."

She said she was navigating her way through some interesting political times. "Let's just leave it at that," she said.

While her and Cheney are distinctly in the minority in the GOP, they do represent 15-20% of Republicans, from what I've read.

Murkowski is unique among senators, in that she doesn’t need her party’s machinery to win an election. In her last election, she lost the primary but won as a write-in.

MAGA Influencers Falsely Claim Trump Paid Mortgage for Slain NYPD Officer's Family

David Zere, host of the MAGA Real America's Voice show Breaking Point, kicked off a firestorm of social media misinformation Friday when he falsely claimed that disgraced former President Donald Trump had paid off the mortgage for the family of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.

Trump used the wake for Officer Diller, who was killed at a traffic stop on Monday, as a photo op, posing for cameras in front of a line of NYPD officers and railing against crime in the U.S.

Zere said in an interview with Jack Posobiec prior to the wake, "The story here is that Trump gave a donation to Tunnels to Towers, I believe he paid off the mortgage for this family."

Trump himself never claimed he would be donating to pay off Diller's mortgage, but the lie quickly spread on social media following Zere's interview. Students for Trump Chair Ryan Fournier posted, "[Trump] has a huge heart and I've seen it time and time again."

Other MAGA accounts chimed in to praise the former President for his supposed act of charity for the fallen officer's family, calling him a "man of the people" and saying "this is our President who cares."

In reality, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, a non profit that provides "mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, and [builds] specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders," quickly announced it would be paying off Diller's mortgage to provide relief for his family.

Well, he also used us veterans in 2016, saying he'd donated to our causes until being found out and only then throwing a little money to his claim. He's a shitbag and his followers have adopted his tactics.
