But more than that you need to understand the history here.  Snowtracks is a regular who occasionally stops by to shitpost and then leave again.  He's not here to discuss, and he's not bright enough for a meaningful discussion even if he was.  While mocking may not be appropriate in the general case, you ignore that there are exceptions to the rule.

No, of course not. I was going for the laugh. However, it’s an obvious consequence of being eternal, that is without beginning or end. If something doesn’t come from something else, then it is without beginning. That’s what I meant. Yeah, there’s the whole end part but we’re not talking about the end.

I think this is the best form of “argument” that can be brought up here. Make fun of the post.  Sure, it ignores the point being made, but at least it’s mildly humorous and not mean like other responses.

My reply doesn’t ’ignore the point being made’ (because snow isn’t making a point, merely regurgitating an unsubstantiated claim), nor is it abusive.

Agreed that it’s not abusive. And let the records show that it was stated as such.

I take it that you are saying that snowtracks isn’t making a point because of the history of the way they post. Fair enough. If the post doesn’t look for a response/conversation, then ignoring it is a good choice.

I do, however, happily admit to the charge of mockery.

There are theories of the universe in which time is finite but unbounded. It would be a bit misleading to describe the universe as eternal under said theories as the concept of eternity generally implies an infinite and unbounded time.

As a personal matter, I suspect the idea of infinite unbounded time is a conceptual error, inherited from prior times. It may itself be incoherent or simply impossible.
