Anyone else struggle with cynical/rude thoughts towards religious people?

Anyone else struggle with cynical/rude thoughts towards religious people?
I'm on a big atheism and nihilism kick these last few years and I find I'm struggling with certain uncharitable thoughts.

A friend converted to Christianity because he had an adrenaline rush while listening to a loud energetic song from a church choir and...I never said anything out loud but man I privately crack up laughing at how ridiculous that is.

I'd like to not have mocking thoughts towards a longtime friend but they come up sometimes. I think I'll just have to wait for this to wear off LOLOL. Anyone else experience this?

No problem here, having rude and cynical thoughts about god botherers is not a struggle, it's easy!
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

Think whatever you want.

It's actions that others define you by.

I feel mean for having those thoughts.

OTOH I also cannot help having basic critical thinking skills. Why does someone having 2 perfectly normal working adrenal glands mean there's a God? Why is adrenaline specifically the benchmark for a God? What about pee? Poop? Mucus? Are those also miracles? I hope not...

All is possible through a fabricated god.

This may have influenced my username honestly lol.

I also produce adrenaline when playing ultrabullet chess. Is that a Godly miracle? Then why do we tilt sometimes? Did God invent tilt? What an ass.

Rock and a hard place. On the one hand it's hard to not to wonder what went deeply wrong with at least some religious people. On the other, if you didn't see it, there's a good chance something would be wrong with you.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Thanks I like this perspective. On one hand I do feel like a bully even though I don't voice those thoughts out loud. On the other...Seriously? A basic body function is proof there's a God?

You're meant to feel that way. Soft control. When theism was in charge, it was stakes and gallows. Now that it's lost just a tiny bit of purchase we need so much tolerance and it needs so much privilege that intelligent people will be banned from thinking to avoid offending the imbeciles.

In fairness, I don't know your friend or the exact details of the conversation you've summarized for us. It could be a comment on an altered state. Altered states are (imo) more credible, consequential, and serious than their contents or narration may seem. FWIW, that you even worry about it goes some way to demonstrating that you're a properly functioning human being. One wonders how many theists wind up in a sharing and self critical mood over such things in their lives.

Would your friend worry that he was being an asshole for saying silly shit to you? I run into that one alot of the time in interactions with the sorts of trolls and apologists we get. Where it seems to me that a person would have to have utter contempt for anyone they tried to sell this or that line to. I struggle to remind myself that they may be generally or specifically incompetent, rather than malicious.
