Well I've just used Chrome (latest dev version) and it still appears. I imagine that this means whatever rendering bug was causing this has been fixed. I can't really do much at the moment, since it is browser specific, and the code is perfectly valid HTML / CSS (i.e. there is no reason other than a rendering bug why the breadcrumbs shouldn't show).
I've added a small invisible <div> that should force the breadcrumbs to show though, so if that isn't working, I think you'll just have to wait for the next release of Chrome, or upgrade to the dev version.
