But you're right to some extent, though I dont regard HoC that serious either. They are both spin-offs of TAF and RDF's OT thread.
To some extent, although there are a few more serious people on HoC, and we do have a resident conservative Christian. I think in general the people who are just interested in OT will migrate over to rationalia, and the people interested in serious stuff as well will migrate over to HoC. Consider that Rationalia's word association thread is already like three times as long as HoC's.
