He threw out the moneychangers coz giod has NEVER asked for money from his followers.jesus knew that, and knew the temple was of the OLD religion...i.e.Old Nick, methuselah[old man],all names for d'evil. MY point ios,you are just bible bashing, exactly what god does NOT need! Anyway, I am currently debating online with a friend of mine about the existence of Jesus. He claims there is evidence outside the Bible but I can't seem to find any and he won't give me any. God damn typical. Min and I had an extremely informative discussion on this very topic a few months ago. It's only 5 pages and it is fairly in depth. Mythic Jesus discussion To answer your question, yes there is evidence of Jesus, but not everyone is in agreement on whether it's reliable or not. If you check modern scholarship on the subject a fair majority of people, both secular and Christian, will agree there was someone named Jesus the writers of the NT are basing there stuff on. Of course there are still people who do not think that is the case, usually called the "mythic Jesus" camp. Bart Ehrman is quoted as saying, "I don't know any serious historian that doubts the existence of Jesus." He goes on to say that the Mythic Jesus position is problematic and sometimes sensationalistic. He also does a great job of explaining the historical practices related to studying the past. Bart Ehrman is of course, not a Christian, so this is just him talking as a historian. You can listen for yourself here: Bart Ehrman supports historical Jesus The interview explains a lot, and the post I listed goes into a lot of detail as well. Let me know what you think. Quote:Bart Ehrman is quoted as saying, "I don't know any serious historian that doubts the existence of Jesus." Ehrman does say that. And then he goes on to show that he has no more evidence for the godboy than anyone else. When he trotted out Josephus I knew he had jumped the shark. However, we cannot expect him to support a position which would put him out of work eventually.
Yeah i juat finished reading jesus interupted(great book) and i gotta say there is so much doubt as to the gospels we have and then combined witht the lack of other evidence it seems very possible to me that jesus could have been fictional. Im not positive but it is a strong possibility.
If I die and god is real, im so screwed.
I agree with Minimalist. There are a few authors who mention some Christus or something, but usually in great consternation and followed about how immoral the Xers were and are.
They have always sucked and always will. Cunt
Quote:They have always sucked and always will. Yeah, just one example of their suckedness is the murder of Hypatia of Aexandria in the fifth century ce. She was a mathematician and philosopher. So naturally the Christians didn't like her on about three levels; Female, IQ above that of an amphora, AND had mastered abstract thinking. So they killed her and skinned her body. There is also a very good film about her, starring Rachel Weiss, called "Agora" |
